Behind the high-speed operation of China's construction industry,there are still many problems of extensive management mode and serious waste of resources.Actually,the application of BIM provides an effective way to solve the problem of low production efficiency in construction industry.According to the investigations,the application of BIM in China is in the transition from the stage of design to the further stage of construction.Under such background,this paper will explore how internal and external factors influence the construction companies to adopt BIM.And it will be great significance to advance the informationization process of the construction industry.The adoption of BIM is not merely the result of investment and use in innovative technologies by companies,but also a comliex process involving the integration of corporate business,regulations,and industry environment.The theory of information technology adoption provides a mature methodology for solving the problem of low adoption of information technology.Based on the theory of information technolory adoption,this paper will extract the factors that affect the construction companies' adoption of BIM,explain the role that these factors play in influencing the adoption of BIM,and propose suggestions for inproving the adoption of BIM technology in the construction industry.Firstly,this paper analyzes the research progress of BIM adoption and the evolution trend of the throry of information technology.And based on that to determine the research persprctive and model(TAM and TOE).Secondly,by comparing the diffiences of work processes before and after adopting BIM in construction companies,the features of BIM applied by construction companies are summed up,and the factors that include three dimensions of technology,organization and environment are extracted based on TOE and its extension theory.Thirdly,the factors of three dimensions include technology,organization and environment are taken as the external variables that affect the intention of use BIM,the key features that come from TAM,perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use,are taken as internal vairables,and the intention of use BIM is taken as a result variable.So,the BIM adopt hypothesis model is constructed.The qurstionnaires is designed and sample data is collected subsequently.Finally,the structural equation model is used to make empirical analysis of the hypothetical model.The empirical research results show that perceived ease of use has a greater effect on BIM adoption by construction companies compared to perceived usefulness;and the external variables including in relative advantages,compatibility,complexity,organizational readiness,organizational culture and mimetic force can affect the willingness to adopt BIM by affecting perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness;conceive force only has a significant positive effect on perceived usefulness,but it has no significant effect on perceived ease of use;perceived costs only have a significant negative effect on perceived ease of use,and has no significant on perceived usefulness.The empirical results of this study are helpful for us to have a comprehensive and systematic understanding of the environment and conditions of BIM,to recognize the forming mechanism of BIM adoption behavior,and to seek benefits and avoiding harm.Based on that,this article proposes effective measures to improve BIM adoption degree in construction companies.
