The construction industry,one of the pillar industries in our country's national economy,with its big scale,has made great contribution to the economic and social development,the urban and rural construction and people's life.However,it makes little profit resulted by the extensive and inefficient management,except for the rising labor cost,excess capacity and the vicious competition.In order to realize the scale of the construction industry economy,Building Information Modeling(BIM),as the new technology and concept of the construction industry,has been actively promoted by the central and local governments in recent years.At present,BIM has received wide attention in the construction industry and more and more adopt it.However,it is found that the application of BIM is not rewarding and even leads to a loss in many construction companies.It is because that these companies fail to make a reform of the business process and management mode when they introduce BIM,without any consideration of Business Process Reengineering(BPR),and BIM fails to play its role.Therefore,this study focuses on the way to implement BPR in construction companies based on BIM to improve process efficiency and gets BIM to attribute to the improvement of management and profits.With scientific research methods,by the problem recognition,analysis and solution,result verification and continuous improvement,this study constructs a model of BPR based on BIM for construction companies,and it is carried out by five steps of the process selection,diagnosis,analysis,new design and inspection.Firstly,with the theory of value chain,it tells out the core process,by analyzing the demand of the core process to BIM,it sorts out the process that requires reengineering most,and with the method of IDEF,it describes the process.With the method of Quality Function Deployment(QFD),it transforms the company expectation and the needs of internal and external customers into the aim element of process and with that of Importance–Performance Analysis(IPA),it analyzes the process goal,measures the expectation and actual achievement of the existing process,and confirms the necessity of process reengineering.Based on the function analysis of BIM,it establishes the influence matrix of BIM and process objective elements,evaluate their relationship and influence and confirm the core of process reengineering and by establishing the relationship matrix of process service gap and BIM,it determines reengineering programme.Then,the new process is designed according to its principles.Finally,by the value comparison of the function and time relationship between the new and old process,it verifies the improvement of the process performance after the reengineering.By the case study method,this study takes the design alteration of business process of H company as an example,to implement the model of BPR based on BIM for construction companies.After the implement,the process performance could be significantly improved,and the model proves to be feasible and scientific.Research methods and results of this study provide a reference for construction companies to conduct BPR when introducing BIM.
