This translation project is conducted on the basis of an E-C translation of an excerpt from Girls,Boys and Junior Sexualities,a book by Emma Renold. The excerpt includes the first two chapters of this book.In the first chapter, the author briefly introduces the content of this book and discusses the core topics of the chapters that follow. She explores the school-based sexuality of young children and probes into many aspects of relevant issues, such as gender identities, gender dualism,"performative gender","institutionalized heterosexuality" and "sexual minority".There is great novelty in her view points. The second chapter is based upon abundant materials the author has collected in two primary schools. The discussion about the relationship between "childhood" and "sexuality" as well as the concept of "Presumed Innocence" the author develops in this chapter may be of great value to Chinese scholars in the field of junior sexuality. Thus the translator hopes that her translation of these chapters may in some way help Chinese readers to learn about the new findings that have been achieved in the West in junior sexualities. In the translation, the translator has come across many difficulties and problems, which she has tried to resolve in the light of translation theories and strategies which she has learned in her MTI classes, especially the Skopos theory, which places emphasis on the purpose of the translation and develops strategies that help to achieve such purpose.Under its theoretical guidance, the translator adopts multiple translation strategies, such as Following the Original Syntactic Order,Turning Phrases into Clauses,Reinventing Sentence Structures and Semantic Extension.Such strategies are illustrated with examples in the report that follows.
