Translation Of Long English Sentences In Political Text-A Case Study

Aiming to explore the basic rules of long English sentences translation,the thesis,based on the author's individual translation practices,probes into the translation of long English sentences in political text in terms of the definition of long English sentences,the difficulties in translating long English sentences and the differences in syntactical structure between English and Chinese.In this thesis,the author briefly introduces the translation practices in the light of the background and the content of the translation project;uses America's New Democracy as a source text to summarize and analyze the features of long English sentences in political text in the light of the definition of long English sentence,and differences in syntactical structure between English and Chinese;then,discusses the difficulties in translating long English sentences from the such aspects: subordinate clauses,modifiers and coordinative constituents with variable word orders,etc.;at last,the writer discusses the translating principles of long English sentences in detail with examples.The thesis aims at helping us to have an overall understanding on long English sentences and the source texts like America's New Democracy.
