This is a report on a simulated English-Chinese simultaneous interpreting task.A foreign policy speech entitled “Live in Peace with China and Russia” by Donald Trump was chosen as the source speech of the simulated English-Chinese simultaneous interpreting practice,the author also read hundreds of references and has been carefully prepared,based on which this report was completed.Donald Trump's diplomatic speech has distinct features of times and the United States,his speech is not only related to the development of American diplomacy,also affects the foreign policy in many countries as well as extensive influence in the world.Trump talks about American diplomacy in two ways.On the one hand,he points out five shortcomings in America's diplomacy,including the waste of resources and the weakening of military power;allies presume responsibility and fail to fulfill their obligations;the threat of Iranian nuclear weapons;international crisis of confidence;former President Obama's dereliction of duty;On the other hand,Trump points out five developments in America's new foreign policy: stopping the spread and development of radical Islam;rebuilding the army and revitalizing the economy;making sure veterans have a good life;trying to reach an alliance with Russia;restoring diplomatic relations with China.Trump's speech has a wide range of topics and is highly specialized,which is a challenge for the practice of English-Chinese simultaneous interpretation.It is also a rare interpretation practice.In this report,the author introduces the whole process of the interpreting task and it mainly includes four parts.First of all,it is the task description;then it is the process description;the third chapter introduces the difficulties in this interpreting task and analyzes the causes of them;Next,for the above questions,the author puts forward relevant solutions on the basis of interpreting theories and skills as well as her professor's advice;at last the author draws a conclusion about the harvest and revelation of this interpreting practice.This simulation has realized the combination of the theory of classroom learning and the practice of communication,which is an important step towards interpreting work.The author hopes the practice of interpreting strategies can provide guidance and advice for future translation studies.It is also hoped that this will be the basis for continuous accumulation,reflection and progress in the future interpreting practice,and the author could gradually grow into a qualified interpreter.
