The countries are increasingly interconnected in a profound globalization,leading the growing number of China-foreign cooperation.In the engineering field,China takesan active part in international cooperation and division in a larger scale and a greater depth to open bidding to the world with some high-risk and sophisticated major projects.As the most significant part of the documents for construction engineering projects,the particular conditions of engineering bidding documents are typical informative texts to notify the specific division of labor and obligations of the involved parties entitled to the bidding documents,the works schedule,engineering quality control and acceptance criteria.The objective and accurate translation of this type of documents is closely related to the defense of Chinese enterprises.This report selects Chinese-English translation of particular conditions in engineering bidding documents as the object of the study.This report selects Chinese-English translation of particular conditions in engineering bidding documents as the object of the study.Because formal and accurate technical words in various fields are used in particular conditions in engineering bidding documents,it is difficult to achieve the equivalence in translating the highly-technical and semi-technical terms and the natural and precise transformation of formal expressions.The report,based on the case analysis of the lexical items in the source text,studies the translation of the lexical items in the particular conditions in engineering bidding documents.Some methods are used to deal with the difficulties in translation practice.Specifically,an adoption of equivalent terms is adopted to translate the technical words and the use of literary words,juxtapositions,nominalization and archaisms are used to increase the degree of formality.At the end of this report,the translator draws conclusions for the translation practice.Based on the fact that particular conditions of bidding documents are classified as informative text,the translator thinks it's a major principle to express the information in an accurate and concise way.Simultaneously,the author's translation ability is limited and needs further improvement.
