The Practice Report On Translation Of Long Compound English Sentences In IBM Project Paper

On account of differences between Chinese and English,there exist lots of barriers to be overcome in the translation process.One of the difficulties in the process of translating IBM project report is the translation of long sentences,especially those containing compound structure.Based on the conclusion made by predecessors and the understanding of the differences between the two languages,this report explores and studies translation skills of long compound sentences in English-Chinese translation of IBM project report.There are four kinds of long complex sentences in the report,including noun clause,object clause,adverbial clause and complex sentence which containing two types of clauses.The author tries to analyze the translation skills of long complex sentences above the sentence level combining with practical experience;this paper introduces three main translation methods:linear translation,translation in the reverse order and comprehensive translation,so as to make the translation is to express intent and fluency,tunnel,accord with the expression of Chinese habit.At last,strategies of long compound sentences translation and other gains are summarized.
