A Chinese-english Translation Report On Hui Tong Hotel Employee Handbook

With the constant development of economic globalization,the economic trade among countries all over the world has become increasingly strengthened,resulting in an irresistible trend of transnational flow of talents.Under such circumstance,the internal routine management documents of many foreign and domestic enterprises in China have been frequently involved in translation practices.In particular,the translation of employee handbook is of great importance and is the research subject of many translators.This paper is a report on the English translation practice of Hui Tong Hotel's employee handbook with the basic structure and features of employee handbook in the field of economic trade.Due to the different language rules,the varied cultural backgrounds and the language differences between English and Chinese,it is likely for errors,omissions and obscurities to occur when it comes to the Chinese-English translation of economic and trade English contexts.Therefore,translators are required to properly convey the original meaning by using vocabularies and sentences that are in line with the expressing habits of the target language readers.The author explores the problems in the translation and studies translation strategies and solutions by making comparatively perfect previous preparation,analyzing factors such as professional terminology vocabularies,common vocabularies,Chinese culture-loaded vocabularies and sentence pattern transformation methods,using function equivalence theory as the guiding theory,with the purpose to accumulate experience in translation of handbooks for enterprises,so that employees will better understand and implement company rules and regulations,enterprises will establish a better team atmosphere and corporate image to better serve the society.
