A Project Report On The C-E Translation Of Measures Of Jiangsu Province For The Implementation Of Law Of The People's Republic Of China On The Popularization Of Agricultural Technology

This project report aims to analyze characteristics of Chinese legal texts,study major issues encountered and present corresponding solutions.This project report is based on the translation practice of Measures of Jiangsu Province for the Implementation of Law of People's Republic of China on the Popularization of Agricultural Technology,and combined with the translation practice of Law of People's Republic of China on the Popularization of Agricultural Technology.The Chinese legal texts,source texts of this project,have its unique style,with some characteristics of technical texts.The author,under the guidance of Chesterman's norm theory,summarized feasible translation methods of solving key issues by studying translated sentences.When dealing with fuzzy expressions,literal translation and specification can be effective;when translating words with Chinese characteristics,foreignization and annotation may serve the purpose well;as for conditional sentences,referring to parallel texts and adhering to principle of consistency are proved to be useful;as regards sentences without subject,completion of subject and conversion are helpful.When dealing with difficulties in translation,a translator may summarize his or her own approach to translation after drawing on previous experience and referring to parallel texts.It is the expectation of this project report,by analyzing and summarizing major issues and solutions thereof,to provide references for future study and practice.
