A Project Report On C-E Translation Of Measures Of Jiangsu Province For The Implementation Of The Law Of The People's Republic Of China On Maternal And Infant Health Care

Based on C-E translation of Measures of Jiangsu Province for the Implementation of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Maternal and Infant Health Care and Measures for the Implementation of the Law of the People 's Republic of China on Maternal and Infant Health Care,this project report analyzes the features of Chinese local legislative texts so as to summarize major issues and difficulties in the translation process and give corresponding solutions.The major issues and difficulties in translating this project lie in the translation of expressions with Chinese characteristics,fuzzy expressions,sentences with"de" structure and long and difficult sentences.The author puts forward methods with adherence to the principles of functional equivalence to achieve equivalent legal effects.Firstly,the translation of expressions with Chinese characteristics should refer to parallel texts and focus on the headwords.Secondly,for the translation of fuzzy expressions,equivalent translation as well as addition and omission are adopted flexibly.Thirdly,in terms of sentences with "de" structure,adding subjects and translating into adverbial clauses of condition and non-finite clauses are necessary.Finally,when dealing with long and difficult sentences,linear translation and restructuring are adopted in this report.By summarizing and analyzing the major issues and difficulties in translation,the author finds it applicable and effective to adopt different translation methods flexibly under the guidance of functional equivalence theory.The author hopes this project report can provide certain reference significance to translation of local legislative texts in the future.
