A Practice Report On Consecutive Interpreting Of The Interview "Hot Issues Of Education"

With the increasingly fierce market competition and the deepening of globalization,good education has long been a key requirement and precious wealth of people's survival and development.The common hot issues in education exist not only in China but also in other countries.For in-depth study,the author conducted an interview interpreting practice entitled �Hot Issues of Education� in June 2017 and took the interview as the writing material.The author reviewed and analyzed various problems in the interpreting process and proposed corresponding coping strategies.The paper is composed of four sections: Chapter One is a task description,which generalizes the basic information of the interview,purpose and significance of the interview.Chapter Two,the interpreting process introduces interpreting preparation.It also describes the author's interpreting performance and offers its assessments from audience and the author's self-evaluation.Chapter Three,the major part of the paper,analyzes its problems which are mainly misinterpretation,information loss and expression disfluency.Reasons to them are mainly inefficient knowledge on education and terminology,retarded listening comprehension on the English of Australian and Italian accent and lack of public expression skills.Lastly,solutions to them are offered,including vocabulary and encyclopedia knowledge expansion;improvement of listening comprehension especially in English materials of varied accents as well as public speaking skills enhancement.Through hands-on interpreting practice,the author has a clearer understanding of real interpreting activities while testing her own abilities.At the same time,it also profoundly recognizes her current deficiencies.This report can serve as a summary of the author's current learning and valuable experience to improve her abilities in the future.The author hopes that the report will help other interpreters.
