This thesis is the translation report on the translation practice of the fifth chapter of the second part of Understanding Police Culture 2nd Ed.This report consists of five chapters:Introduction,Analysis of the Source Text,Translation Process,Difficulties in Translation and Solutions,Conclusion.Chapter 1briefly introduces the background and significance of this translation practice and then presents the structure of this report.Chapter 2 analyzes the main content and features of the source text.Chapter 3 illustrates the translation process and introduces the concepts of the guiding theory,which is Vemeer's Skopos Theory,and how it functions in this translation activity.Chapter 4 collects difficulties the translator encountered during the process of translating and demonstrates the appropriate solutions the translator summarized for those difficulties.The logic and translation techniques?Paraphrase,Annotation etc.?adopted are analyzed through examples.Chapter 5 lists the lessons gained through the translation practice and points out the unsolved problems and provides suggestions for future translation practice.
