Report On Translation Of Guangxi Economic News

With the establishment of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area and the economic development of Beibu Gulf,Guangxi's status and function of international regional cooperation are bound to be more apparent.This has seen increasing attention from the international community for Guangxi's emerging economy.As one of the important channel for the public to obtain the Guangxi economic information,Guangxi economic news has attracted much attention,and its English translation has become one of the important means of external publicity.The source text is extracted from the “Guangxi Economy·ASEAN” section of Guangxi News Network,containing 36 Guangxi economic news reports from 2016 to early 2018 with a total of over 12500 words in Chinese.In the course of translation,the features of Guangxi economic news were analyzed firstly from the lexical,syntactic and stylistic levels.The source text is original in content,clear in structure and concise in language with the characteristics of indigenization and localization.The difficulty of the translation lies in bridging the cultural gap to translate a number of hot words,proper nouns,culture-loaded words,four-character structures,words and sentences with data,headlines,leads,etc.And the translation of news headlines and leads should be kept precise and to the point.Thus combining “three principles of adherence in publicity-oriented C/E translation” with the translation practice of Guangxi economic news,the corresponding translation 13 methods such transliteration+annotation,literal translation+annotation,deletion+free translation,splitting translation,synthesization and transformational translation were concluded to achieve the goal of external publicity.As a whole,the functional theories are helpful and useful in guiding the English translation of Guangxi economic news.Therefore,the 13 methods of this thesis are expected to be of instructive significance to the C/E economic news translation.
