This paper is a translation repost on an excerpt from chapter one of The Poetics of Repetition in English and Chinese Lyric Poetry, written by Chu-chin Sun.In this book, the author establishes repetition of sound and sense as the perspective from which to compare the poetry and poetics from these two traditions.Based on translation theorist Alexander Tytler's three principles of translation, this report categorizes the difficulties encountered during translation process at lexical and syntactic levels, providing examples to illustrate the solutions to these difficulties by using relevant translation methods and skills such as sentence division and order adjustment. The report includes four parts: the first part introduces the background and significance of this translation project;the second part briefly analyzes the genre and language style of the source text;the third part is the core of this report, which presents the translation methods the translator has applied to solve the difficulties under the guidance of Tytler's three principles of translation, and provides examples for case analysis. The last part concludes this translation project, describing the lessons learned and the problems to be solved.
