The Translation Strategies of Postpositive Attributives in the Political andDiplomatic Text: A Report on the Translation of Understanding InternationalDiplomacy(Chapters 2 and 3)This report is based on the English-Chinese translation of the political and diplomatic text,Understanding International Diplomacy(Chapters 2 and 3),which contains tracing diplomacy, contexts of diplomacy, and tasks of global diplomacy. There are many political and diplomatic terminologies and long sentences with various postpositive attributes, making it difficult to translate.Twenty typical cases have been selected to analyze and explain such problems. There were two types of difficulties the translator met in the process of translation: sentences related to politics and diplomacy and sentences with postpositive attributes.Parallel texts, dictionaries and online resources helped the translator with the first problem. For the second problem, methods like division, linear translation,as well as combination were adopted. The experience of this translation practice has given insight into the task of translation. It is expected that, based on cases analysis, this translation practice will not only provide valuable translation strategies but also some references for the translation of similar texts.
