From the perspective of translation universals, this thesis carries out a research on the subject conversion in the process of Chinese-English simultaneous interpretation attempting to explore if there are differences in the subject use between interpreted English and native English. To reach this propose, the author puts forward three research questions:(1)What strategies do interpreters adopt when interpreting subjects in Chinese-English simultaneous interpretation?(2)What are the differences between the interpreted English and the native English in the use of subjects,if any?(3)What are the reasons for the adoption of the interpreting strategies of subjects in Chinese-English simultaneous interpretation? To achieve the research goals, three 60-minute bilingual meeting videos of Tianjin Summer Davor Forum are selected as the corpus of this research. The author has transcribed the videos and classified the text into three categories: Source Chinese,Interpreted English and Native English.According to the subject definitions of both Chinese and English, together with the existing study on the syntax of both Chinese and English, the contents of the corpus are divided into sentence by sentence, and the source Chinese is aligned with the interpreted English. After that, the author counts the number of personal subjects and impersonal subjects and the number of subject conversions in each language. When the preparatory work is completed, the author calculates whether there are significant differences in the subject use between the source Chinese and the native English and between the interpreted English and the native English by Chisquare test. The findings are as follows: according to the corpus of this research,in ChineseEnglish simultaneous interpretation, there is no significant difference between the interpreted English and the native English in the subject use.On one hand, from the perspective of translation strategies, interpreters have made appropriate conversion of subject in simultaneous interpretation, which makes the subject use of the interpreted English closer to that of the native English. On the other hand, the corpus of this study belongs to the category of financial and economics materials. The Chinese speeches themselves tend to objectively describe the development of today's economy and society, which also reduces the influence of the differences in the subject use between Chinese and English on the choice of subjects in the interpreted English.Nevertheless, due to the fact that there is no significant difference in the subject use between the interpreted English and the native English, there is no trend of normalization in the process of simultaneous interpretation.
