Blood and Earth:Modern Slavery,Ecocide, and the Secret to Saving the World belongs to documentary literature, which has the dual features of “documentary” and “literature”.Documentary literature is based on real people in life and real events happening in history, through which readers are acquainted with related facts. This translation practice report is based on the translation of the sixth chapter, which makes a detailed elaboration, comprehensive analysis and systematic summary on translation practice. This report consists of five chapters: task description, process description, theoretical basis, case analysis and conclusion. The first chapter describes the source, significance, content and requirements of the task. The second chapter introduces the translation process from three aspects, including preparations, translation and revision. The third chapter mainly introduces the text typology, and determines that documentary literature belongs to both informative text and expressive text. The fourth chapter is the core of this report.Under the guidance of text typology, the translator takes the translation of the sixth chapter as the research object to explore the strategies used in documentary literature translation.First of all, documentary literature has features of the informative text.Basing on the fidelity rule, the translator adopts the accurate translation of proper nouns and chooses the diction of polysemant in certain context.Besides, the translator uses Chinese idioms and four-character structure to make the translation more idiomatic. At the same time, the translator reconstructs the sentence structure to make the translation be understood and accepted easily.Secondly, documentary literature also has features of the expressive text. The translator reproduces the figures of speech and retains the narrative perspective in the source text. The fifth chapter gives a comprehensive summary of the translation practice and elaborates the guiding significance of text typology in the documentary literature translation.Besides, the translator finds out that full preparation should be made before translating.
