With increasing cultural and educational exchanges between China and other countries, more and more foreign scholars have applied to work in Chinese universities. The Art College of Hebei University, following the trend of internationalization, opened professional English courses for music majors in the first semester of 2018,in order to improve their ability to communicate in English. The author had the honor to provide consecutive interpreting for this course. This report is based on the recording taken on May 31st,2018 when the author served as an interpreter in Art College. This practice is class interpreting, which is characterized by specific context, professional content and various communicating forms. The author gives a detailed introduction of interpreting skills used during this practice with examples, and also sums problems and improving strategies. The report is divided into five chapters. The first chapter gives a brief introduction of the task source, content, purpose and significance. The second chapter describes the process of this interpreting practice. In the third chapter, the author details what she has done to make full preparation for the task. The fourth chapter is case analysis,in which the author makes a summary of effective interpreting skills, such as explanatory amplification, omission, reformulation, simplification and zero-translation,as well as lists some problems and improving strategies in this practice. The last chapter is conclusion, which sums up some frequently-used interpreting skills in class interpreting and provides suggestions for further study and work.Nowadays, there are limited researches on class interpreting,so the author hopes to,through this report, provide some references and suggestions for other interpreters who perform similar work.Besides, this practice is class interpreting themed on music, thus involving lots of music terminologies and professional knowledge, which lays a solid foundation for the author to perform interpreting or translation in this field in the future.
