Diversity of talents has played an increasingly important role in promoting social progress.A Good Time to Be A Girl explores how foreign companies develop a diversified culture.Chapter Six “How CEOs Can Break the Diversity Barrier” of the book describes the process of promoting diversity of talents and Chapter Ten “We Can Write the Future Together” of the book describes the challenges of achieving gender equality. These two chapters are rich in the experience of foreign companies for Chinese entrepreneurs to draw on and they have translation difficulties and thus the translator chooses the two chapters to finish this report to improve her translation ability and provide a reference for the translation of commercial biographies. The functional translation theory such as Skopos theory is usually used in the translation of literary discourse, scientific texts, and films;however,it is seldom applied to the translation of commercial biographies. In view of this, this report explores the difficulties in translating Chapter Six and Chapter Ten from the perspective of Skopos theory, reproducing the diversity of talents highlighted by the source text. The report includes five parts: introduction, task description, process description, case analysis and conclusion.“Case Analysis” is the main part of the report, analyzing some difficulties in translating business terms, metaphorical phrases, long and complex sentences, and passive sentences. The translator thus employs the translation methods and translation techniques of literal translation, free translation, annotation and omission at the lexical level, the syntactic level, and the discourse level under the guidance of Skopos theory. The translation report has three major findings as follows.Firstly, the specialization of business terms and the polysemy of metaphorical phrases need the translation methods and translation techniques of literal translation, free translation and annotation to be employed to reproduce their meanings in the source text.Secondly, the translation techniques of cutting and embedding are employed to make long and complex sentences and passive sentences readable.Thirdly, personal reference and demonstrative reference are usually used in commercial biographies to realize the cohesion of the discourse and the translator employs the translation techniques of omission and repetition to realize the cohesion and coherence of the target text.
