A Report On The Translation Of The Book Of Wisdom In Chinese Politics Into English(Chapter 8)

This paper is presented as a translation report.The selected source text is written in Chinese and translated into English.The source text comes from an excerpt of Chapter 8 from the book of Wisdom in Chinese Politics by Zhou Guidian.For its translation,purposes are to advocate Chinese thoughts of political philosophy,to reflect the wisdom in traditional Chinese culture and to build a bridge between translation theory and translation practice.In combination with translation practice and typical translation cases,the report mainly explores the translation of classical Chinese from the perspectives of lexical equivalence,syntactic equivalence,textual equivalence and stylistic equivalence,by means of text-type theory by Reiss and Newmark and on the basis of functional equivalence theory by Nida.Chapter One introduces the author and main contents,stylistic features of the source text.Chapter Two analyses the background,the objectives and significance,the text type of the translation project and difficulties in translation.Chapter Three presents theoretical basis and its guiding significance for the translation project.Chapter Four demonstrates the case studies.Chapter Five concludes the translation experience and translation limitations from the translation of classical Chinese.
