A Report On Guide Interpreting At Mogao Grottoes

With the increasing cross-cultural communication among people in different countries,tourism,especially outbound tourism,is becoming a popular trend.The Belt and Road Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping is of great significance to the tourism and the cultural exchange between China and other countries along the Belt and Road.With the great scale and its splendid treasure of Buddhaist art,the Mogao Grottoes attracts individuals around the world,therefore,society has more and more high demand for the quantity and quality of guide interpreters.Not only accurate interpretation and explanation are required,but solving problems abilities are needed.Based on the internship experience,the author was delegated to be a guide interpreter with three foreigner tourists to Dunhuang on April 4^thh by the department manager of the GSCITS?Gansu China International Travel Service Co.Ltd.?.The task lasted for three days from April 15^thh to April 18^th.With doing the sufficient preparation work such as the preparation of the Mogao Grottoes,the preparation of the commentary,the glossary collection,as well as other short-time preparation in the following 10 days,the guide interpreting tourism started on April 15^th..The task went through three processes that were before interpreting,while interpreting and after interpreting.Prepare work in the commentary and the details of the Mogao Grottoes were made sufficient.The author made full use of the parallel text and tools to do the preparation work.According to the nature of this special task,which means,the tourism guide interpretation,the author chose the Skopostheorie to guide the all interpreting process.Under the Skopostherie's guidance,the author adopted various interpreting methods such as amplification,omission,transliteration as well as paraphrase to make the interpretation go smoothly.This report is based on guide interpreting at the Mogao Grottoes,which consists of five chapters.Chapter One is a basic introduction the guide interpreting task.Chapter Two describes the task from three aspects,namely the internship background,source task analysis and the requirement from the entrust party.Chapter Three is the interpreting process description according to before interpreting,while interpreting and after interpreting.Prepare work in the commentary and the details of the Mogao Grottoes were made sufficient.Chapter Four is the analysis of interpreting cases based on the guidance of Skopostheorie.In Chapter Five,according to the interpreting task,major findings such as the Skopostherie made a guidance meaning to the task,several interpreting method's adoption were founded.Different kinds of problems encountered in the interpreting process were classified by the author and the corresponding interpreting strategies like amplification,simplification and omission,transliteration and paraphrase were proposed as well.Some typical cases were selected by the author after the guiding interpreting task,meanwhile,several interpreting problems such as misinterpretation and missing information were analyzed in the field of tourist attractions rich in art and religion as well.Therefore,tentative interpreting strategies and solutions to related problems are proposed.Useful suggestions such as the interpreter should be knowledgeable and flexible,the interpreting theory and methods should be made full use of were proposed under the guidance of the Skopostherie.
