As China's international status improves,foreigners have an increasingly urgent need to know about China.To respond to this demand,both the quantity and types of publicity translation in China increase rapidly.Among all types of publicity translation,political publicity translation is more important and difficult for its textual features and political significance.Xi Jinping:Governance of China ? is one of the most important political publicity books which abounds with expressions with Chinese characteristics and is featured by a formal language style.The book wa's translated by a team of experts who are skilled and experienced in publicity translation.Therefore,studying its translation is very constructive for publicity translation.The author looked at,under the framework of Kenneth Burke's Identification Theory and through textual analysis and qualitative analysis,what translation methods were used in the English version of Xi Jinping:Governance of China ? to make the translated version more acceptable to foreign readers,thus achieving identification between foreign readers and authors of the book.An analysis and summary of the translation examples showed that,for the purpose of building identification between authors of the original text and foreign readers,domestication could be adopted as the general translation principle which bring the translated text closer to foreign readers.From the perspectives of achieving identification by sympathy,inaccuracy and conventional form,the translator can use first personal pronouns and add information to build identification by sympathy;blur source text to build identification by inaccuracy;and adopt foreign conventional forms to build identification by conventional form.The above-mentioned methods can help us further bridge differences and build identification,achieving the effect of foreign publicity.
