A New Australia is written by Bruce Scates,which tells about Australian radicalism in nineteenth-century.The source text is a historical text,which aims to convey new Australia objectively in nineteenth-century.The source text includes many historical events and historical figures.In order to deliver historical information faithfully and dig out historical connotation deeply,the translator chooses the functional equivalence theory.Under the guidance of functional equivalence theory,the translator finished the translation of chapter one.The third chapter is the case analysis.It mainly includes lexical level and syntactical level.In the lexical level,the translator uses verbalization,liberal translation and addition to analyse.In the syntactic level,the translator analyses the text by using reconstruction of sentence,passive voice sentence into active voice sentence,connectives.In conclusion,the translator hopes this translation is helpful to those people who study Australia.
