Entrusted by the overseas friend Kelsie, the author,as an accompanying interpreter, visited some of Tianjin' s famous attractions with her.The author conducted a consecutive interpreting for Kelsie based on the tour guide' s commentary. In the process of oral interpretation, the author completed the interpretation task by combining the professional knowledge and translation theory he learned in the school. The well-known functional scholar Hans Vermeer proposed the Skopos Theory in the 1970 s,which was finally summarized and developed by scholar Christiane Nord.According to the theory, translation behavior must follow a series of rules. The first principle is the Skopos Rule. The target language depends on the purpose of translation. The second principle is the Coherence Rule. The target language must be internally coherent. At the same time, there should be coherence with the source language. The third principle is the Fidelity Rule, and the target language needs to be faithful to the source language, but the loyalty depends on the purpose of the translation and the translator' s understanding of the source language. This paper is guided by Three Principles of the Skopos Theory, and illustrated by the example of the author' s accompanying interpretation practice of visiting Tianjin' s famous attractions with Kelsie, using a variety of interpreting strategies, from the perspective of the receiver, choosing the best way to deal with the source information.Making adjustments to achieve the intended function of the translation, putting the receiver to get information in a relaxed atmosphere.Under the guidance of the Skopos theory, the author analyzes and summarizes the deficiencies and successful cases in this translation,in order to provide guidance for future interpretation practice.
