Translation Practice Report On News Translation For Foreign Audience

Under the tendency of economic globalization,competition among different countries is gradually transformed from competition in comprehensive national strength,featured by economic,scientific and technological level,to that in soft power.Language is the most important way of communication as well as part of culture,so translation between different languages plays a key role in international communication.Especially,the translation of international publicity news can boost other country's understanding to China,increase cultural exchange and international communication,and indirectly stimulate economic development.So raising the quality of international publicity news translation is of great theoretical and practical significance.This practice report is based on the author's translation practice in the Tianjin University International Media Association(TIMA).News reports have their unique features in the language style,lexical choice,syntactic style and discourse.When translating news reports,the author need to take all of these features into consideration and maintain the basic features of news reports in the translated version.In this practice report,the author used the method of case analysis and summarized how to translate news reports based on the skopos theory.The three main rules of this theory are skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule,all of which are of great significance in guiding the translation of news reports.Hopefully this practice report can provide some reference to news reports translation.
