A Project Report On The C-E Translation Of "The 2018 Henan Tourism Overseas New Media Operation Project(Excerpt)"

This project report,based on the C-E translation of "The 2018 Henan Tourism Overseas New Media Operation Project(Excerpt)",is aimed at summarizing difficulties encountered in the process and finding translation strategies concerning tourism texts in the light of Hans Vermeer's Skopostheorie.Under the guidance of Skopostheorie,the author sums up problems encountered in the translation process on lexical and syntactical levels and searches for corresponding translation strategies for problem-solving.Lexical problems focalize on the translation of culture-loaded words,geographical terminologies and four-character structures,which are properly addressed through transliteration and explanation,literal translation as well as paraphrase.Regarding the syntactical level,long and complex sentences that feature the flowery diction and loose structure are main problems to be solved.As solutions to them,dual translation skills,omission and combination,are widely utilized in the project.The author expects to bring some enlightenment to the C-E tourism translation through in-depth discussions and analyses.The tourism translation should represent cultural connotations and literary images of the source text to the utmost on the basis of ensuring its readability and conforming to target readers' language conventions and aesthetic standards.All these,subsequently,can help to make the Chinese culture accessible to English readers,stimulate their desires for travel and in the end promote the development of tourism.
