A Practice Report On The Chinese Translation Of Scientific And Technical Japanese

The translation materials in this report come from the research project of graduate education and teaching reform "Scientific and technological Japanese translation textbooks and expansion of corpus construction".The tasks include the translation of26 articles as well as 20 subjects of science and technology in the SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL JAPANESE,and 20 articles in the expanded corpus.In view of the high technological level,wide ranges of subjects and special requirements for translation ability of Japanese textbooks of science and technology,on the one hand,strict and standardized logical expression should be pursued in translation,on the other hand,the inherent logical relationship expression of scientific and technological theory should be taken into account.This is the particularity and standardization of scientific and technological texts,the basis of translating scientific and technological texts,and the focus of classical translation of textbooks.This report first introduces the background and main research contents,at the same time of collecting and collating Japanese textbook of science and technology as well as the researching documents,the author also fully analyzes and prepares the materials of translation.Then,combining with typical examples,this report focuses on the two major issues of vocabulary translation and sentence translation,and summarizes the translation techniques used in the process of translation.For the terms,the author ensures the accuracy of technological terms and idiom;for the sentence structure,the author analyses the methods of long sentences,such as split,reverse,and explores how to translate disciplinary definitions.Finally,this report summarizes the mistranslations in the process of translation,and reflects on the problems of lack of knowledge and obvious translationese.
