| The development of Internet technology gives birth to a new kind of translation,which is the subtitle translation.Therefore,audiences in China can have the opportunity to enjoy all different kinds of videos from foreign countries.However,not every Chinese audience has enough linguistic competency to fully understand the content of those videos.Therefore,subtitle translation is becoming increasingly important.It works as the medium for interaction between the video creators and audience.The author in the past one year has worked in Baoge.tv Technology Co.,Ltd as a proofreader and manager of the team.During the internship,the author gradually had a clear understanding that how the traditional translation is diferent from the modern translation project.The report,based on daily works of a subtitle translation group of 12 members,discusses the roles of staff training,terminology management and multi-person collaboration in ensuring the successful delivery of the subtitle and posting of the video in a specialized field within a tight delivery schedule.The author finds that to reduce the time for the whole project,translators should reduce the channel of communication and clearly allocate responsibilities.And to reduce the occurrence linguistic problems,translators should be willing to find our problems and share with his team members.Professional knowledge is decisive to avoid the technical problems,but the working habit and management of the project are important for the translator to avoid non-technical problems.If problem appears,translators should discuss in the team.Through the experience in the subtitling team and feedback and evaluation from other team members,the author thinks other information,e.g.,introduction of the video,comments below video,may simplify the overall process and help the translator the better understand the video he translates,thus reduce the waste of time,avoid small but annoying problem and improve the quality of our translation. |
