The acceleration of globalization has spawned a large demand of the society for the translation industry.Today,large-scale translation projects usually require multi-person cooperation, and the continuous growth of translation teams sets a high standard for translation project management.Insufficient project management may have a direct impact on the quality of translation deliverables and project progress. Therefore,a study on the process optimization of translation project management is of great necessity. The author had an opportunity to participate in the “Routledge — The Commercial Press ‘National Governance Series' project” and assumed the role of the project manager as well as the translator of the C-E translation of The Development Path of Eastern Societies and the Theory and Practice of Socialism. This report analyses translation project management problems the author encountered in translation project management: 1)Inappropriate team structure and inappropriate task assignment in the pre-production process;2)failure to perform time management, failure to deliver qualified translations, and project inefficiency resulting from unilateral communication in the production process;3)poor layout of translation works and loss of language assets in the post-production process.Guided by the project management theory Work Breakdown Structure(WBS),the author proposes corresponding process optimization measures of project management to solve the above-mentioned problems.By studying the process optimization measures, the report is expected to shed some light on translation project management.
