A Report On The Computer-Aided Translation Of The 2018 Annual Report Of Vodafone Group Plc.

As one of the important ways to know listed companies,annual report is a typical commercial information text,which has a relatively fixed format.And there will be some similarities among the same industries,which provides conditions for computer-aided translation in terms of regular format and high similarity.CAT can not only improve translation efficiency and save time,but also better ensure the consistency of terminology translation.This report applies Tmxmall,an computer-aided translation tool,to translate the commercial information text 2018 Annual Report of Vodafone Group Plc.After analyzing the text,the author found that there are many financial terms and communication terms,and a certain degree of overlap within the content.While the translation of long sentences which didn’t reach the ideal level needs to be modified in the post editing period.After introducing the main process of computer-aided translation,this report analyzes the merits of CAT in terms of terminology translation through case study,and adopts appropriate translation strategies,such as splitting,reversing,syntactic linearity to translate long sentences in post editing period.The application and practice of computer-aided translation conform to the needs of current translation and the trends of technical development.It is hoped that this translation practice can provide reference for future translators to use computer-aided translation tools in translating relevant texts.
