A Report On The Chinese-English Terminology Data Bank Construction Of Maritime Terms

Language plays an irreplaceable role in the process of promoting the "Belt and Road Initiative".However,the study on the collations,translation and terminology data bank construction of maritime terms for the Maritime Silk Road is far from enough.Therefore,the research on the Chinese-English terminology data bank construction of the maritime terms is of great significance.This report is based on the preliminary work for the compilation of the Bilingual Handbook of the Proper Names for the Maritime Silk Road.On the basis of translation project,the author adopts the case analysis method to elaborate on the process of Chinese-English terminology data bank construction of maritime terms under the guidance of the communicative theory of terminology and term designation principle.The process mainly covers the selection,classification,recognition,translation of maritime terms and terminology data bank construction,as well as the final proofreading and auditing of terminology data bank.Among them,this report analyzes the linguistic form of terms of term recognition and the strategies of term translation through examples.The linguistic form of the terms mainly includes single-word terms,multi-word terms,set phrases and abbreviated forms of terms.And term translation is based on the principle of term designation,focusing on strategies of free translation,literal and free translation and zero translation.At present,relevant terms have been included in the Bilingual Handbook of the Proper Names for the Maritime Silk Road to better serve the 21st century Maritime Silk Road construction,which will promote the economic and trade cooperation between China and countries along the Belt and Road,and enhance China's opening-up drive and international influence.
