A Practice Report On The Localization Translation Of AVA Project

Localization is the process of processing a product according to the needs of a country/region or language market to meet the specific language and cultural requirements of users in a specific market.Translation is just one part of the process of localization.Localization also refers to other work such as document preparation and conversion,pre-translation processing,post-translation processing,software compilation and testing,desktop publishing and so on.This paper firstly introduces briefly the definition and characteristics of localization and localization translation,software localization and the translation process of AVA project,including pre-translation,while-translation and posttranslation,and then,combining with the author's translation practice of AVA project,carries out a case study of the translation that needs to be paid attention to in the localization translation process of this project.The author found that the localized translation of AVA project has certain translation specifications and strategies at both the format and linguistic levels.On the aspect of format,the paper analyzes the handling methods of tags,punctuation marks,time format and the special format of this project.On the linguistic level,the analysis is carried out from the aspects of words and sentences,including the translation method of terms,the strategy of amplification and contextualization,the use of computer language and the translation strategy of cross-line text format in dealing with AVA project.Finally,this paper briefly describes the general principles of post-translational delivery and the limitations of the study.In a word,localization translation is developing more and more rapidly under the background of globalization.And doing localization and localization translation well will bring tangible economic and cultural benefits.
