With the rapid pace of life and social development, psychological pressure and conflict are increasingly prominent, and mental health has become an issue of increasing concern to the people all over the world. This paper is a report on English-Chinese translation practice of Mental Health in the Digital Age(excerpts),written by Sheri Bowman and Ian Rivers, which is entrusted by Chengdu Hathaway Education Consulting Co.,Ltd.and the author is appointed to translate chapter 2-3.The translation project is a reflection of the fickle reality of contemporary people's psychological conditions in the Internet-based world. This project can help people know about new mental health treatments in the digital age and promote the development of researches about mental health, which is of practical significance. The original text is a scientific English text, which emphasizes the preciseness, conciseness and objectivity of the content and form.In order to achieve a faithful and accurate transformation from English to Chinese, this report regards Skopos theory as the theoretical support. In terms of vocabulary, there are myriads of unfamiliar words and expressions, such as technical terms, acronyms and compound words, and the extensive use of nominalization is also a big problem in the English-Chinese translation. From the perspective of syntax, passive voice and long sentences are frequently used.In addition, discourse cannot be neglected for the sake of cohesion and coherence of the translation. Therefore, the case study of the translation should be analyzed in association with the three principles of “Skopos”,“coherence” and “fidelity” from the perspective of vocabulary, syntax and discourse.Under the guidance of Skopos theory, the author takes full advantage of different translation strategies like literal translation and liberal translation and diverse methods to solve the problems mentioned-above,such as conversion, omission, division, etc. It is hoped that this report can provide references and help for the translation of similar documents.
