Chinese International Educators and learners should pay attention to the teaching of punctuation.However.a large number of practices have shown that the usage of punctuation marks is not standardized either in daily practice or in exam writing.This paper analyses the errors of Chinese punctuation symbols based on 532 written materials from 362 foreign students in the School of International Exchange,Nanchang University,sums up and analyses them according to the different types of punctuation symbols and errors.Questionnaires were sent out to foreign students and Chinese teachers in the School of International Exchange,Nanchang University,analysis data based on the results of questionnaire survey.On the basis of the investigation,the author finds that the common errors in the use of punctuation marks by foreign students are physical,format and function errors.There are three main reasons for the errors of foreign students.Firstly,the lack of consciousness of language contrast,the lack of grammar knowledge,and the influence of the use of network punctuation.Secondly,the lack of national teaching awareness in the teaching process,the small proportion of punctuation in the teaching process,multimedia courseware and blackboard writing bring students wrong demonstration.Finally,the nonstandard use of punctuation in some textbooks and the lack of guidance of corresponding syllabus are also important factors.In view of the above phenomena,punctuation should be included in the evaluation system,error corpus should be established according to the country,and punctuation teaching content should be added to the textbook compilation,publish some popular and interesting books of punctuation suitable for international students.For the teaching process,teachers should strengthen the awareness of language contrast and pay attention to language differences,teach in order of difficulty and acquisition.In terms of specific teaching methods,teachers should deal with punctuation by reflecting the differences between different countries,using squares to write punctuation in training,combine the function of learning punctuation with recitation,etc.
