With closer international cooperation,more and more Chinese and foreign experts exchange advanced technology and experience in the form of training seminars,thus increasing the demand for training seminar interpreters.Training seminar speech features specialized vocabulary,redundancy,logical mess and incomplete sentence,posing great challenges to interpreters.This report is based on the author's interpreting experience at the 2018 Training Seminar for Highway Managerial Staff from South Sudan(the 2018 Training Seminar),organized by the Ministry of Commerce and co-organized by Shandong Foreign Trade Vocational College.This seminar was held in Jinan from October 21 to 26.The author participated in the last lecture themed "Highway Maintenance Operation and Management",interpreting for the lecturer and helping the lecturer and the audience to communicate with each other.The theoretical guidance of this report is the Interpretive Theory of Translation(ITT)and its Triangular Model proposed by Danica Seleskovitch.By analyzing the author's interpreting performance,this report summarized useful strategies in interpreting and offered suggestions for interpreting study and training in the hope of enlightening other interpreters.The report is divided into four chapters.Chapter One elaborates task background,participants of the task,task requirement,characteristics of the task,and pre-task preparation.Chapter Two introduces the ITT and its Triangular Model.Based on the ITT,Chapter Three analyzes both successful and unsuccessful examples in the task,summarizes useful strategies of interpreting for training seminars and finds out deep-rooted reasons for unsuccessful interpreting.Chapter Four is the feedback from task participants and the author's self-reflection.On this basis,four suggestions are put forth for interpreting study and training.Through the overall analyses and discussions,the author concluded that by using cognitive complements,omitting redundant message,adding sentence constitute and reorganizing illogical sentence,it is feasible for interpreters to transmit sense and achieve faithfulness in training seminar interpreting.Besides,in order to improve interpreting ability,interpreters should build up glossaries in specific fields,do enough practice and transcription,master a series of strategies and seize every opportunity to experience interpreting process in daily study and training.
