This is a practice report of the Chinese-English consecutive interpreting.The author participated as interpreter in the 2019 Workshop for Ethiopian Media Professionals,a project sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by the Research and Training Institute,National Radio and Television Administration.Materials analyzed in this report come from the consecutive interpreting of a lecture themed with new media communication delivered by Ms.Chen Jie.This report reviewed the interpreting process.On the basis of the Triangle Model that originated from the Interpretive Theory(It divides the translation process into three stages:comprehension,deverbalization and re-expression)which emphasizes on sense equivalence,the author explored the terminology and unclear logic in comprehension;cultural loaded words and the issue of part of speech in deverbalization;and redundancies in reformulation.Corresponding strategies were also provided such as cognitive supplement,explanation,sentence restructuring,notes alignment,generalization and simplification.It is in the hope that this report provides reference for interpreters in relevant practice and contributes to the intercultural communication taking place across the globe.
