| This report takes two chapters of Innovation,Regional Integration,and Development in Africa as the translation practice.The book is one of a series of books of Advances in African Economic,Social and Political Development,which is actually a collection of theses.And the book focuses on the economic,social and political development of Africa,and provides fresh answers to Africa's development by using recent theoretical and empirical advances.Innovation,Regional Integration,and Development in Africa is an academic book with a large amount of information and a formal style of writing.Due to the professionality of this book and the differences between English and Chinese,such as the differences in logic,thinking modes and expression habits,the translator met with great challenges in the process of translation.On the basis of understanding of the source text,the translator tries to express the information conveyed by the source text accurately,break through the form of the original text and reproduce the style of the original text.Therefore,the translator chooses Newmark's communicative translation theory as the theoretical guidance of this translation practice.In this report,in view of the difficulties encountered in the process of translation,the translator focuses on the translation of complex sentences,attributive clauses and nominal structure.This report consists of five chapters.Chapter 1 is a brief introduction of the translation task,introducing the reasons for the book selection and the significance of translating the book.Chapter 2 is the task description,including the content and the feature of the source text.Chapter 3 is the translation process,including pre-translation preparation,translation process and proofreading.Chapter 4 is a case study,which discusses the difficulties and solutions in the process of translation.Chapter 5 is the conclusion,which analyzes the experience gained by the translator in the process of translation and the limitations of this report. |
