"Emotion" and "Interpersonal communication" are important components of junior high school students' psychological development,and they are also the key content of junior high school mental health education.More and more unstable emotions require for greater emotional regulation of junior high school students.In addition,friendship plays a more important role in adolescent peer relationship.The purpose of this thesis is to explore the relationship between the emotional regulation ability and friendship quality of junior high school students.Besides,the thesis intervened emotional regulation ability of junior high school students by group counseling in order to discuss its effect.This thesis includes two studies.A questionnaire survey was conducted among 588 teenagers from a middle school in Wuhan,which using "emotion regulation questionnaire" and "friendship quality questionnaire" as the research tools.The purpose of study one is to understand the current situation of junior middle school students' emotion regulation ability and friendship quality,and explore their relationship.Study two is based on study one.The intervention research of group counseling is conducted to investigate whether the group counseling of emotional regulation ability has significant effect on the friendship quality of junior high school students.The specific results are as follows:(1)The emotional regulation ability of junior high school students is significantly different in grade,and the grade 8 is significantly lower than that of grade 7.There was no significant gender difference in the total score of emotion regulation ability,but there was gender difference in the dimension of emotion control ability.There was no significant difference in the ability of emotional regulation between only and not only child.(2)The friendship quality of junior middle school students is not significantly different in grade,singleton or not.But in gender,the friendship quality of girls is significantly higher than that of boys.(3)The emotional regulation ability and its dimensions are significantly positively correlated with the quality of friendship.The results of regression analysis show that the emotional regulation ability can significantly positively predict the friendship quality.The ability to effectively apply emotional regulation strategies,emotional evaluation ability and emotional control ability can significantly positively predict the quality of friendship.(4)The group counseling program for emotion regulation ability was developed,which mainly interfered with the ability to effectively apply emotion regulation strategies,the ability to evaluate emotions and the ability to control emotions.The group counseling significantly improved the emotional regulation ability and friendship quality of the experimental group.To sum up,the group counseling intervention of emotional regulation ability can improve the emotional regulation ability of junior high school students and improve their friendship quality.Therefore,the emotional regulation group counseling can be applied to the guidance and intervention of junior high school students' emotional adjustment ability and friendship quality in school education,which has practical significance for promoting the development of students' emotional and social adaptation.
