In recent years, the term “American Exceptionalism” has appeared rapidly in American economic areas, mass media, and academic publications. The author hopes that by translating the first and second chapters of American Exceptionalism:Economics,Finance,Political Economy, and Economic Law,it will help the translator improve the level of translating economic texts, expand translating knowledge, and at the same time help Chinese readers to understand more about American Exceptionalism and have a deeper understanding of its role in promoting American economy. At the same time,I hope to summarize what specific translation strategies and methods will be used in the translation of economic texts based on communicative translation theory.Besides, the translator will conclude the key points and difficulties of translation in text, syntax, and propose, put forward corresponding solutions and provide some reference and inspiration for translators working in this field.Communicative Translation Theory is one of the two translation models proposed by Peter Newmark, whose purpose is to “strive to make the translation effect on the target language reader and the original language on the source language reader the same”.This article first determines the target text as an informational text based on Newmark's text type theory, and adopts a Communicative Translation Theory that is compatible with informational texts as a macro guiding principle. There are usually several difficulties in translating international political texts: When translating texts, translators should always remind themselves to closely combine communicative translation theory with economic texts, bear in mind that the ultimate purpose of the translation is to serve the target language readers. At the same time, thetranslation strategies and methods applicable to such economic texts are summarized. The report is divided into five sections. The first part is a description of the translation task, including the introduction of the original text, and the book itself. The second part is a description of the translation process, including preparations before translation.Translators need to consult a lot of relevant literature,go to the library, and find out works and magazines about the “American Exceptionalism” on the Chinese Knowledge Online with a view to better understanding them. This article will also explain problems that may be encountered during the translation process, and supplement the relevant matters that need attention after translation. The third part is an introduction to communicative translation theory, including the two translation theories proposed by Peter Newmark.Communicative Translation Theory and Semantic Translation Theory.Based on the difference and connection between the two,so we can conclude that communicative translation theory is more suitable for the translation of the text.Related applications of communicative translation theory will also be introduced. The fourth part is the specific case analysis, which is mainly divided into two levels: lexical and syntactic levels. The last part is a summary of translation practices, gains and shortcomings translators have when translating the text, and what needs to be improved in translating such texts in the future.
