| Energy is an integral part in the development of the modern economy. With the growing dependence on foreign energy,China has a large annual energy import volume and a high degree of external dependence. However,Africa embraces various energy resources that have not been fully exploited. As China-Africa energy cooperation enjoys a bright future,a better understanding of African energy could promote the bilateral cooperation. This report cased by Chapters 6 and 7 of Africa Energy: Policy,Management, and Sustainability, analyzes the process of communication of energy information.Since it is an informative text, and the target reader is ordinary people interested in the energy industry, the author should consider the acceptability of the target reader while ensuring accurate information transmission. The difficulties lie in the fact that the source text contains a large number of terms about energy, passive sentences, and long sentences. These difficulties could cause conflicts between channel capacity and information load.In addition, the noise in the process of information transmission is likely to cause information deviation.According to information theory, the conflicts between channel capacity and information load can be solved by appropriately adjusting the redundancy, while the phenomenon of information deviation can be solved by reorganizing the information to fit the presentation habits of the target audience.Based on the information theory, this report explores the English-Chinese translation methods of energy texts through typical case analysis. It is hoped that this report can provide some references for subsequent translation studies of the same type of text. |
