Informative text is one with information function as its main function.Translation is the act of transforming information from language to another on the basis of accuracy(faithfulness)and smoothness(expressiveness).Compensation is an effective way to make up for loss in translation,which can realize the better understanding of the target text for readers in the culture as well as communicative culture of the target language.With AEO 2018 as the object of study,on the basis of Reiss' s text typology,this paper aims to analyze the compensation strategies of Chinese version of informative text from the perspective of vocabulary,sentence pattern,and discourse,considering translation practice in theory.It discusses the application and effect of various compensation strategies in informative text,trying to explaining the differences of both languages.As a well-organized and well-expressed report,AEO 2018 includes substantial technical terms,complex structures and diverse sentences,which adds difficulty to the translation work for the translators.Despite of the further study on translation compensation,there are few studies on the Chinese translated compensation of informative text from the viewpoint of linguistics.In the process of translation,the translator should express information in the combination of the features of informative text and grammar habits of the target text,by mastering professional knowledge,correctly dividing sentence structures and analyzing the logical relations at all levels.There are no definite methods for translation compensation.It is necessary to adopt various translation strategies flexibly in accordance with the the principal of authenticity and objectivity.The study shows that the Chinese translation needs to be compensated by various strategies such as amplification,conversion,materialization and voice conversion from different perspectives in linguistics,ensuring the correct understanding of the target readers as well as the equivalent response of the source readers,thus providing some suggestions for the practice of Chinese translation of information-based texts.
