A Report On The C-E Translation Of Green Fruit(Excerpts)

In the wake of the improved economic and political status,China's image serving as a “great power” is increasingly popular worldwide.At the same time,Chinese culture also needs to be promoted and disseminated,and it is urgent for Chinese literature to go global.The group of teenagers undertake the mission of communicating the world,and they need to enhance their comprehending of diverse cultural views.The translation and introduction of excellent Chinese juvenile literature not only can grant the educational significance and enlightenment to the adolescent in their growth process,but also can provide a platform for foreign teenagers to understand the Chinese culture and convey a kind of new cultural view to them,so as to achieve the purpose of spreading traditional Chinese culture.This thesis was completed on the basis of the translation of eight pieces in the collection of mini-fiction called Green Fruit written by the Chinese writer Xu Huifen.According to Newmark's Text Typology,the source text belongs to the expressive text,which also possesses the informative function and vocative function.Thus,the translator simultaneously employed both strategies of semantic translation and communicative translation in the translation process.For the difficult points like the translation of culture-loaded words,guided by the principle of semantic translation,the translator adopted the translation methods of transliteration,literal translation and transliteration plus annotation to reproduce the original style and spread Chinese culture.As for the translation difficulties like the dialogues,rhetoric and titles,the translator utilized the strategy of communicative translation,in a bid to make the target text conform to the expression habits of target language and easy for readers to understand.Through this translation practice,the translator aims to enlighten foreign adolescent in their growing experiences,and help them learn about Chinese culture,so as to make a minor contribution to the translation and introduction of Chinese juvenile literature.
