Simulated consecutive interpreting helps interpreters become familiar with the interpreting preparation process and find out problems in the practice of interpreting.Meanwhile,as one of the most cardinal methods of improving interpreting efficiency,it is favorable for training interpreters' faculties of information processing and on-site reaction capacity. In the course of consecutive interpreting, the interpreter is required to effectively convey source language speakers' information to target language audiences. In accordance with information effectiveness of interpreting, more often than not,it is dependent upon information coherence.Generally speaking, the stronger capacity an interpreter possessed, the better fulfillment of coherent information will reach in target language.Based on the CCTV documentary production “China Reinvents Itself”,this thesis is a simulated consecutive interpreting practice, aiming at conducting a research on the problems and solutions related to information coherence during interpreting process. It has been shown in the practice that the factors causing inadequate information coherence could generalized to following three aspects.First of all,the ill-defined pronoun in source language is likely to beget inadequate information coherence, which includes pronominal ellipsis and pronominal confusion.Secondly, improper use of cohesive markers is also responsible for unorganized information coherence. From this perspective, the inappropriate using of causal discourse markers and ambiguous assumptive discourse markers are the two predominant factors.Thirdly, the redundancy of the source language information eventuates in incoherent information as well. With reference to this case,it mostly includes the information redundancy caused by inactive repeated information or spoken language habits.Combining the above analysis and post-translational anatomy, this thesis propounds three solutions to interpreting problems accordingly. With the aim of information coherence, the interpreter is suggested to adopt the processing strategies of clear-cut pronoun, discourse marker addition and uninformative redundancy refinement.Deriving from the practice of simulated consecutive interpreting, this thesis is comprised of interpreting problems analysis and corresponding solutions, which is expected to provide guidelines for homogeneous documentary consecutive interpreting.
