A Practice Report On Simulated English-chinese Simultaneous Interpreting Of Intercontinental GT Challenge With Effort Model

In recent years,automobile sports have developed rapidly worldwide,and more and more attention has been paid to automobile sports events.Many technical methods such as TV live(including rebroadcast)and online live broadcast are available in the commentary of races.Domestic fans have also been constantly contributing their focus to international sports.More and more attention has been paid to the improvement of English interpreting of races.This report adopts Effort Model proposed by French interpreting theorist Gile as a theoretical guide.This report summarizes the problems arising from race interpreting and tries to propose solutions.Effort Model proposed by Gile has a guiding role for effort distribution and interpreting output in the simultaneous interpreting,and he also puts forward corresponding equation used in the interpreting process,namely: SI = L + M + P + C,(L refers to listening,M to memory,P to language output,and C to coordination of all efforts.)This article selects "2018 Pirelli Intercontinental GT Challenge California8-hour Endurance Qualifying" as corpus to simulate the simultaneous interpreting of the live commentary of the race.During the interpreting process,the translator discovered difficult interpreting issues such as regular words with rare meaning,unbalanced sentence cohesion and segmentation,redundant or missing information,and interruption and switch of topics.Choosing Gile's Effort Model as the theoretical support,the interpreter hopes to propose corresponding interpreting strategies to sort them out,these strategies may include terminology knowledge preparation,segmentation of chunking,adding missing information,deleting redundant information,making reasonable predictions of topics and transition and interim usingwords and sentences.It is hoped that it can be used as a reference for the simultaneous interpreting of such live sports events in the future.
