After independence,Philippines still have a special relationship with the United States,and always adheres to the "United States first" unilateral foreign policy.Until after President Macapagal took office,he adjusted the relationship between the Philippines and the United States rapidly,and developed relationship with its Asian neighbors vigorously,the Philippine diplomatic course was changed..The rising of nationalism in the Philippines is the main motivation of Philippine’s diplomacy to Asia.In addition,the Philippine’s own security consideration is also one of the important factors influencing the Philippines’ s Asian diplomacy.Macapagal has left a precious legacy to Philippines,which has influenced his successor.The paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter focuses on the external relations of the former Macapagal government.The emerging state of the Philippines,at the beginning of its independence,immediately pursued a diplomatic policy that followed the United States and joined the US security system and economic system based on Philippine-American relations.The main problem with the Philippine foreign policy was to deal with relations with the United States in the fifteen years before Makapagal’s administration.In addition,the Philippine and neighboring countries in the complex relationship,but also breed in the development of the bud.The second chapter is about the process of Macapagal’s diplomatic adjustment.Macapagal greatly adjusted the political and economic relations with the United States,trying to get rid of the United States and achieve independent diplomacy.In dealing with diplomatic relations with neighboring countries,Macapagal and the leaders of the Philippines government,trying with its neighbors,even as far as Africa and Latin America to establish friendly relations,all of which are independent of the diplomatic process.The third chapter analyzes the historical and realistic reasons for the change of Philippines’ s foreign policy during the Macapagal administration.Including promoting the development of nationalism in the Philippines.the Philippines security challenges under the background of the cold war and the landscape in the region of the new diversification all had effected on foreign policy.Internal and external cause,and Macapagal own reasons,to jointly promote the diplomatic area.The fourth chapter describes macapagal government left diplomatic legacy.The Macapagal administration adopted foreign policy to Philippine US relations and Sophia relations had a significant impact,today,the implementation of President Duthel Te’s closest Chinese foreign policy,there are president Macapagal’s foreign policy marks.In addition,owing to the influence of Macapagal,President of the United States,he implemented the "development diplomacy," and the establishment of diplomatic relations with the socialist countries,Philippines’ s foreign relations have taken a step forward.
