In order to study the characteristics of the Chinese political elite's and the characteristics of occupation and position changes, this paper selected the resumes of provincial and ministerial officials as research objects.A total of 891 provincial and ministerial officials' resumes were used.Through detailed reading of the resume, this paper transform the factors related to career changes in their resumes into variables, and input SPSS for analysis. In general,China's provincial and ministerial officials were promoted to the vice-ministerial level after an average of11.07 career changes and 31.37 years of professional career.Among them,it takes an average of 7.92 years for grassroots workers to upgrade to the leading roles of sections, and it takes an average of 6.81 years for promotion from the leading roles of sections to the divisions. It takes an average of 10.20 years from the divisions to the departmental leadership. To advance from the department level to the vice department, the average time spent are 6.62 years. In addition, the statistics found that the number of party and government officials in our country was misaligned, the proportion of party and cadres was large, the number of government officials, people's congresses, and CPPCC officials was small;the proportion of female officials and non-party cadres was small, and their positions were marginalized. They live on the edge of political power;the national structure of officials is reasonable, but the overall age is relatively large, and the phenomenon of over-age serving is common.Through the independent sample T test, female officials have greater resistance in the promotion process;through comparative analysis of averages,it was found that the degree of education of the first academic degree was significantly related to changes in professional positions, and the degree of correlation was much greater than the effect of the final academic degree on changes in professional positions. The higher the first degree, the shorter the time spent by the officials in the process of career advancement and the fewer professional changes they have undergone;the nature and type of the first occupation have a significant effect on the promotion of officers;secretary experience is no benefit in promotion.
