With the development of urban construction and public services, the social living pattern has changed, and the management structure and methods of urban communities have also changed.Under the background of comprehensive and deepening reform in China, urban community management has formed a cooperative management pattern with multiple participation, and gradually changed to community governance.Studies have shown that the participation of urban community residents in China still has problems such as low participation rate, limited participation content and unsatisfactory participation channels, which affects the effectiveness of community governance. Therefore,it is particularly necessary to explore the influencing factors of community residents' participation behavior.Social capital is an intangible resource with social integration function in the community. It can realize resource regeneration and performance improvement by adjusting human behavior.Studies have shown that social capital has a good explanatory power for residents' participation,so exploring the internal relationship between them can provide valuable countermeasures and suggestions for improving the participation of urban community residents in China. With the support of governance theory, social capital theory and civic participation theory, this paper sorts out the previous scholars' research on social capital and the participation of urban community residents through literature analysis, and defines related concepts. In the literature reading, the author finds that domestic and foreign scholars have not yet formed a unified opinion on the measurement dimension of social capital.Although most scholars use Patnan's point of view to focus on the three dimensions of trust, network and reciprocity norms, considering the characteristics of urban communities in China, this paper increases the sense of community belonging to measure social capital. Therefore, this paper divides social capital into four dimensions: community trust, reciprocity norms, participation network and community belonging sense. The residents' participation behavior is divided into four types: political participation, economic participation, social participation and stylistic participation.Based on this, the research model is established and the corresponding research hypotheses are proposed. In the stage of empirical analysis, this paper chooses six communities in the main urban areas of Chengdu as the object of study, collects data in and around the community by questionnaire survey, and uses SPSS22.0 software to carry on the empirical analysis. The results of the study show that:(1)The four factors of social capital have a significant positive impact on community residents' participation behavior.Among them, the participation network factor has the strongest influence on the participation behavior of community residents, and the reciprocal normative factor has the weakest influence on the participation behavior of community residents;(2)Age,marital status, monthly income, housing type and length of residence in the demographic variables will have a corresponding impact on the social capital of the residents;(3)Age,political appearance, housing type and length of residence in demographic variables will have a corresponding impact on residents' community participation behavior.Based on the above analysis, this paper proposes four countermeasures: actively cultivate community social trust, continuously improve community reciprocity norms, comprehensively build community participation network and strive to unite community sense of belonging.By improving social capital to improve the current situation of insufficient participation of urban community residents, and the level of participation of urban residents will be further improved.
