Civic science literacy is an important embodiment of comprehensive national strength.Geographical science literacy is an constituent part of science literacy.The fundamental philosophy of geography curriculum standards in senior high schools is to cultivate geographical literacy that citizens must own,including geographical science literacy and humanistic literacy.During geographical teaching,senior high schools are required to combine practical conditions,carry out investigation and pay attention to exploration of geographical problems.Students should find out geographical problems in study and life and propose exploration proposals so as to highlight subject characteristics and application value of geography.Geographical science literacy consists of five elements: knowledge of geographical science,science ability,scientific method,scientific spirit and scientific consciousness.In geographical teaching process of senior high schools,exploring geographical problems around and developing teaching resources play an important role in stimulating students' interest in observing,discovering and exploring the problems of geographical science,improving their ability to solve problems,forming correct views on population,resource and environment,cultivating geographical science spirit of truth seeking,dedication,cooperation and innovation and achieving teaching objective of geography in senior high schools.Based on extensively understanding domestic and oversea researches on science literacy cultivation,this paper combines geography curriculum standards of senior high schools to define components of geographical science literacy and geographical problems around.This paper takes Nansha District in Guangzhou City for example to mine geographical problem curriculum resources.For different geographical problems around,the main functions of geographical teaching contents of senior high schools on cultivating geographical science literacy of senior high school students are analyzed.Meanwhile,corresponding teaching case is designed and applied in geographical teaching practice of Guangzhou Foreign Language School.This paper is divided into five chapters.First of all,this paper presents the background of topic selection,domestic and oversea research progress,research purpose,significance,method and technology.Chapter ? expounds theoretical bases of this research and defines the connotations of geographical science literacy and geographical problems around etc.Chapter ? combines geography curriculum standards in senior high schools to mine geographical problem teaching resource suitable for geographical teaching content of the senior high school in Nansha District,and analyzes the functions of geographical problem teaching resource on cultivating geographical science literacy of senior high school students.Chapter ? mainly discusses the application of geographical problems around in cultivating geographical science literacy of senior high school students,proposes relevant principles,methods and approaches,and designs relevant teaching cases for practice,and design the questionnaire for empirical research,through the analysis of the data,verify the functions of training strategy on cultivating geographical science literacy of senior high school students.Finally,this paper summarizes and concludes major views and problems.
