Reading is a basic means of learning our language,and it is also an important practice for us to learn and understand the world.With the continuous development of social information,more information need to read,the ability of life-long learning is particularly important.Therefore,cultivating students' self-reading habits and enhancing the ability of learning knowledge by using reading have attracted more and more people's attention.In this paper,Anningpu primary school which located in urban-rural fringe area in Aning District is taken as the research object.The current extracurricular reading situation of primary school students are investigated through the questionnaire.The investigation includes:the interest and motivation of pupils extracurricular reading;the way and habit of pupils extracurricular reading;the content and time of pupils extracurricular reading;the support and guidance of pupils extracurricular reading.At the same time the interview method is used to interview the parents and teachers for obtained more the extracurricular reading situation of primary school students.The results show that there are the following problems in extracurricular reading:Lack of reading time,lack of reading amount;reading content selection with blindness,comic books accounted for the proportion of too large;reading habits have not yet developed;reading guidance needs to be further strengthened;poor reading conditions,poor reading environment;too dependent on external stimuli,intrinsic motivation is low.The author analyzes the causes of the problems from the social factors,school factors,family factors and students.That should be from the following aspects to improve thereading ability of the primary school students in urban-rural fringe area:first of all,the community should try to support the extracurricular reading of primary school students;schools and teachers should play a leading role in guiding students to read extracurricular;family should play a catalytic role in strengthening primary school students to read extracurricular;the final tripartite combination to improve the plight of primary school students to read.
