With the acceleration of economic development and social transformation,the country’s demand for innovative talents is more urgent.As the main way for high-level talent cultivation,graduate student education is an important channel to export high level innovative talents in China.In recent years,graduate student education has developed rapidly in both quantity and scale.However,the cultivation of innovative talents cannot meet the development needs of the society.It makes the task of cultivating the ability of innovation is more prominent and urgent.Finance and economics colleges are the main training place for talent in economic management.And the graduate students of finance and economics are the main force to participate in the research and solution of economic and social problems,and also an important force in the construction of an innovation-oriented country.This puts forward higher requirements for their level of innovation ability.On the basis of reviewing the development history of graduate students’ innovation ability,the study investigates the current situation of the cultivation of the innovation ability of finance and economics masters.The investigation is mainly aimed at Shanxi University of finance and economics.And the contents of survey include course teaching,scientific research and practice,tutor guidance,the study input of graduate student,school management and innovation achievements,etc.These training links and related subjects are closely related to the knowledge,thinking and other elements necessary for the formation of innovation ability.Through statistical analysis of the questionnaire results,the study finds out and summarizes the problems and causes in the cultivation of innovation ability of finance and economics masters.To further promote the innovation ability of finance and economics masters,the paper studies the concept and experience of the cultivation of graduate innovation ability in the United States,Britain and Japan.At the same time,two representative high level financial institutions in China are selected.Combining with the measures and methods in the cultivation of innovation ability,it provides inspiration and reference for improving the overall innovation level of finance and economics graduate students.On the basis of the above analysis,the paper comprehensively considers the economic and social development,the professional characteristics of financial and economic schools and the needs of graduate students.Then it constructs the training mode of the innovation ability of master’s students with the characteristics of finance and economics with some relevant factors,including cultivating ideas,cultivating goals,cultivating process and cultivating results.This model emphasizes the basic role of curriculum teaching and research practice in the process of innovation and cultivation,as well as the role and cooperation between the relevant subjects of schools,tutors and graduate students.At the same time,combining with the advanced concept and experience of domestic and foreign innovation ability,it put forward specific suggestions and strategies.Finally,in view of the present situation and the main problems of Shanxi University of finance and economics,it puts forward some suggestions from the aspects of perfecting the training plan,optimizing course teaching and strengthening social research,improving the innovation environment,strengthening the management assessment and promoting the cooperation between the school and enterprise.
